Gundrilling
MIC
Group offers in-house gundrilling, along with ejector
drilling and trepanning, for deephole drilling
applications. Gundrilling is often used for drilling
deep, small diameter holes. Applications for gundrilled
holes include wire, fluid, cooling and mechanical
linkage passages. Compared to conventional drilling
methods, gundrilling offers many advantages, in
terms of design flexibility, depth capabilities,
quality and
production options.

Considered
by many contract manufacturers as an outside process,
MIC Group has been providing customers with quality
gundrilling for many years and is considered the best
in this field. MIC's extensive lineup of equipment
and experience allows for a higher degree of quality,
improved coordination and monitoring of the process
(without having to rely on outside sources), and
tighter control of delivery.
Current
equipment consists of small gundrills for on-center
drilling, mid-size 3-axis gundrills for off-center
drilling, and a new large CNC gundrill capable of handling
a wide range of parts. Drilling sizes range from .078" to
2" with depth capabilities exceeding 80",
from one end, depending on the part configuration and
hole size. MIC stocks a wide variety of drill sizes
and lengths to eliminate production delays caused by
waiting for drills.
MIC
Group's gundrilling capability is just one of the key
elements utilized in our approach to "turnkey" manufacturing.
